EMPD spokesperson Kobeli Mokheseng shared a few by-laws regarding noise disruption.
He said that the complainant may call 0860 543 000, 112 from the cellphone or 011 458 0911 and give the call-taking centre operator the street name, area and the kind of noise, whether loud music, mechanical sound or grinding.
Mokheseng said thereafter an officer will respond to the relevant area.
“Precinct officers will respond through the relevant dispatching centre. The lawbreaker/s will be given a verbal warning.
He said the officers will not leave straight away and will monitor the area to ensure the disturbance does not persist.
“Officers will be around the vicinity to monitor the situation. If the offender continues making noise, they will be given a written warning and if the noise carries on, officers will impound whatever instrument used to our yard and the liable owner will be responsible for the costs to follow,” Mokheseng said.
