The body of the little girl, which was wrapped in a blanket, was discovered by a community member at around 7pm.
Paramedics were called and certified the baby dead.
According to Boksburg North police spokesperson Const Justice Ramaube, at this stage they don’t know who might have dumped the baby.
No arrest has been made so far, but investigators are following up on information obtained.
