Seven men, aged between 20 and 38, were arrested on March 12 after they were found in possession of stolen cables at a scrapyard on Main Reef Road.
The large quantity of cables were discovered during the Boksburg North police operational routine.
According to Boksburg North police spokesperson Const Justice Ramaube, the cables are believed to have been stolen from an electrical substation.
All seven suspects were charged with tampering with essential infrastructure and possession of stolen cables.
