Except for the damages to the vehicle and the bank building, no injuries were reported during the incident.

The woman, who crashed her Mercedes-Benz car into the Standard Bank branch at K90 Shopping Centre last year, was sentenced to a reduced fine of R2 400 or 12 months’ imprisonment with a suspended sentence of five years after she asked for a clemency.

According to Boksburg North spokesperson, Const Justice Ramaube, Sesi Twala asked for a clemency after she was originally sentenced to a fine of R7 200 or 36 months’ imprisonment.

Twala (40) was found guilty of malicious damage to property by the Boksburg Magistrate’s Court on February 28.
