Metro apologises for water meter mix-up in Frost Street

The metro said the accounts have been altered according to their correct meter numbers, and finance department has been sent the latest water meter readings. Both consumers have been informed accordingly.

The Ekurhuleni metro has confirmed there was a mix-up between the accounts of Windmill Park resident, Daisy van der Merwe, and her neighbour’s water meter, and apologised for the inconvenience caused.

According to Nhlanhla Cebekhulu, metro spokesperson, the consumer for 61 Frost Street complained she was being charged on her neighbour’s meter number.

“Investigations reveal that both meters (59&61) were replaced on the same day by the contractor, and there was a mix-up when they [contractor] were uploading meters.

“Meter 804 which belongs to 61 Frost Street was uploaded on 59 Frost Street,” said Cebekhulu.
