A gang of robbers shot and killed a security guard during a robbery at the construction site behind the Sasol filling station on Rondebult Road in Parkdene Extension Seven on November 27.
According to police reports, the security officer and his colleague were on duty when three men entered one of the containers being used for site offices and demanded cellphones at gunpoint.
One of the thugs opened fire and the bullet struck one of the security guards, who reportedly died instantly.
The assailants then took the cellphones and the officer’s service firearm, a 9mm pistol, before fleeing the scene.
They were seen fleeing the scene on foot, running towards the Cinderella Hostel.
