The EMPD’s Speed Enforcement with Drug Enforcement Unit/s members, arrested five lawbreakers in Boksburg and Vosloorus for excessive speeding and possession of narcotics between Friday and Saturday, November 8 and 9.
According to Kobeli Mokheseng, EMPD spokesperson, the EMPD Drug Enforcement Unit members patrolling the streets of Vosloorus between 10am and 4pm on Saturday arrested a 25-year old man, found on Esele Road (extension 14) with two half mandrax tablets and one loose plastic bag of dagga valued at R200.
“On Roets Drive, a 56-year old man was stopped and searched, before officers uncovered one ziplock of khat, one quarter and two halves of rock valued at R250.
“The next stop was on Mokgatla Street where a couple were apprehended for being in possession of 230 ziplocks and one loose plastic containing dagga valued at R3000 with R610 cash, believed to be proceeds from their illicit marijuana trading.”

He said on Friday at 6.30am in Boksburg on the R21 freeway direction south between Griffiths off-ramp and N12 bridge, the EMPD Speed Unit Members arrested a 28-year old man for speeding.
“He was driving a silver Hyundai i20 with two passengers, clocking 180km/h on the throughway with a speed limit of 100km/h. The suspect was taken to Boksburg North Police Station where charges of reckless and negligent driving were registered against him,” said Mokheseng.
