Arson suspected after gambling shop burns down

No injuries were reported. Investigations are underway.

A gambling shop situated on the corner of Marcel Street and Trichardts Road was burnt down recently and a case of arson has been opened at the Boksburg North SAPS.

According to Boksburg North SAPS spokesperson Const Justice Ramaube, the manager and two of her colleagues alleged to have seen two men on camera coming inside the shop.

“The manager said she opened the door for them and one of the men held the magnetic door open while the other man took out something like a petrol bomb from his school bag.

“The man allegedly threw the petrol bomb into the shop,” Ramaube said.

The fire department extinguished the fire while the Explosives Unit from Germiston assessed the scene for any further threats.

Anyone with information that can lead to the arrest of the suspects can phone 086 001 0111 or Boksburg North SAPS Community Service Centre on 011 892 8351.
