A man was arrested after he, along with his accomplice, allegedly robbed and killed a Zimbabwean national in Parkdene on September 30.
According to police reports, the deceased and his countryman were on Monday, just before 8pm, walking along the pathway behind the Checkers Hyper on the corner of Leeuwpoort Street and Rondebult Road, on their way home in Reiger Park, when they were accosted by two men.
The suspects brandished a knife and demanded the pair’s belongings. Apparently a struggle ensued between the suspects and the victims.
Ones of the victims was stabbed and the other surrendered and ran to the Boksburg Police Station to report the incident.
The suspects stole the injured victim’s money and fled the scene. The victim suffered a stab wound to his chest and was later certified dead on scene.
Boksburg police immediately launched a manhunt and finally managed to track one of the suspects in John Collins Street, Reiger Park.
He was charged in accordance with the crime and reportedly told the police that his partner in crime was the man who stabbed the victim.
His accomplice is still at large and police told this publication that they are confident that he will also be soon brought to book.
