Police investigate tragic deaths of man and child

Police said suicide with the possibility that the boy was perhaps hanged by the man could not be ruled out.

Boksburg police are investigating the unnatural deaths of a Cinderella man and an eight-year-old boy believed to be the man’s son.

According to Boksburg SAPS spokesperson Const Ntsako Ledwaba, police received a complaint of murder on September 20.

Police officers rushed to the address on Trichardts Road and found the two bodies. The man, believed to be in his late 30s, was lying on the floor facing down and the boy’s body was hanging from the roof of the house with a rope tied around his neck.

It is suspected the adult apparently hanged the boy before ingesting a poisonous substance, as there was yellowish foam coming out of his mouth and there was a bottle on the table believed to be containing the poisonous substance.

Police are investigating a case of murder in connection with the boy’s death, and have also registered an inquest docket with regards to the adult’s death.

The bodies were taken to the state mortuary for further investigations into the deaths.
