The latest crime statistics released by the SAPS show that murder rates have increased in all the Boksburg policing precincts in the 2018/19 financial year.
The stats also show that murder has been on the increase in all the precincts for the past three financial years.
As per the reports, you are more likely to be murdered in Dawn Park policing precinct; an area which recorded the highest murder rate during the past financial year.
A total of 53 people were killed in Dawn Park policing precinct, a 26.2 per cent increase compared to the 42 cases reported the previous year.
Reiger Park policing precinct has seen a drastic increase in murders. A total of 36 people were killed during the 2018/19 financial year in the area, a 38.5 per cent increase compared to the previous year.
Meanwhile in the Boksburg SAPS policing precinct murder increased by 4.8 per cent. A total of 44 people were killed in the area during the previous year.
The Boksburg North policing area recorded 10 murder cases in the 2018/19 financial year, the lowest number of cases compared to the other Boksburg precincts.
For the past 10 years, the Boksburg North murder rates ranged between 6 and 13.The area has, however, seen a 11.1 per cent increase compared to the nine cases reported during the 2017/2018 financial year.
