Correctional supervision for attempted break-in

The following cases were tried in the Boksburg Magistrates Court.

* Vincent Tshimbudzi (25), from Vosloorus, appeared in court on charges of common assault and malicious damage to property.

He pleaded guilt and was found guilty, and sentenced on July 16, to a fine of R2 000 or six months imprisonment, suspended for five years and on condition that he repays R500 to the complainant.

On June 16, the accused assaulted Nombulelo Komane and damaged her window to the value of R500.

Magistrate Jurg Viviers presided over the matter, and Ntombi Mbonani appeared on behalf of the State.

* Simangalisa Mbobela (26), from Vosloorus, appeared in court on charges of malicious damage to property.

He pleaded guilty and was found guilty on July 14, and was sentenced on July 16, to a R5 000 fine or 15 months imprisonment.

On July 8, the accused caused extensive damage to the doors, windows and burglar bars of Maria Mbobela.

Magistrate Jurg Viviers presided over the matter, and Ntombi Mbonani appeared on behalf of the State.

* Steven Sydney Moorcroft (33), from Germiston, appeared in court on charges of being in possession of suspected stolen property.

He pleaded guilty and was found guilty, and sentenced on July 17, to 12 months imprisonment, suspended for four years.

On June 7, the accused was found in possession on 40 kilogrammes of copper cables.

Magistrate Sydney Badenhorst presided over the matter, and Palesa Setshedi appeared on behalf of the State.

* Shaun Styles (37) appeared in court on charges of trespassing and attempted theft.

He pleaded guilty and was found guilty, and sentenced on July 16, to 30 days for trespassing, and 18 months for attempted theft, suspended for five years.

On June 9, the accused entered the premises of Johannes Viljoen, without his permission, and attempted to steal an extension cord, washing machine motor, tow bar, car radio and sunglasses.

He was also found unfit to possess a firearm.

Magistrate Sydney Badenhorst presided over the matter, and Palesa Setshedi appeared on behalf of the State.

* Khayalethu Matiluzi (25), from Ramaphosa, appeared in court on charges of robbery.

He pleaded not-guilty on June 19, and was found guilty and sentenced on July 17, to two years imprisonment of which one years is suspended for five years.

On April 27 the accused assaulted and forcefully took a wallet, containing R3 400, from Mahlakoane Mahlatsi.

He had a previous conviction for robbery from November 2005.

Magistrate Emmanuelle Magampa presided over the matter, and Angeline Moolman appeared on behalf of the State.

n Moses Maphumulo (19), from Soweto, appeared in court on charges of house break-in with the intent to commit a crime.

He pleaded guilty, and was found guilty on May 15, and sentenced on July 16, to three years correctional supervision.

On December 11 the accused broke into the home of Phillip Sterfontein with the intent to commit a crime unknown to the State.

He had a previous conviction of house break-in from 2011.

Magistrate Shlubana presided over the case, and Maria Olivier appeared for the State.
