Thieves target homes, businesses in Boksburg

Below are some of the serious crimes recently reported to the Boksburg police:

Burgled

• Thieves managed to gain access to a business property on Rondebult Road in Farrar Park and stole two computers on August 8.

• Thugs forcefully opened the sliding door of a residential house on Sapele Street, Freeway Park, and stole a TV set and two bottles of whiskey on August 8. The complainant was asleep in the house in question.

• Also in Sapele Street, Freeway Park, thieves gained access to a residential house and stole a microwave, a kettle and a laptop on August 8.

• In Sunward Park, thieves removed the glass from the window frame of a residential house on Kwartel Road and stole a TV set on August 8.

• In Cason, thieves forced their way into a house and stole a TV set, jewellery, toys and a Samsung S2 on August 10.

• In Boksburg East, thugs forced their way into a business property on Seller Road and stole valuable goods during the period between August 8 and 10. Stolen goods included computers, a microwave, toolbox, welding machine, TV set and other items.

Robbed

• A security guard was robbed of his belongings at gunpoint as he was patrolling at the Angelo railway station at about 8pm on August 11. He told police he initially noticed the group of six men standing on the platform and at first thought they were waiting for a train.

All of a sudden, four of the men took out firearms and aimed them at him while demanding his belongings. They then stole his wallet, containing about R300, a bank card, an appointment card and smart ID card before fleeing the scene. No shots were fired and no injuries reported.

• A pedestrian’s bag containing personal belongings, including documents and money, was stolen by robbers who held him at gunpoint while he was walking along Rondebult Road near Comet on August 8. The gunman ran towards the nearby bushes and disappeared.
