Workers complain of inhumane conditions at court

If information and photos obtained through well-placed sources is anything to go by, staff and accused waiting to appear in the Boksburg Magistrate's Court are on a regular basis forced to contend with damp squalor and an awful stench of raw sewage.

The dish on the floor is being used to collect the water dripping from the above pipe, something that does little to remedy the situation.

Workers have been complaining for years about the poorly maintained holding cells with broken sewer and water pipes, which leave sections of the cells wet and smelly.

This photo lays bare the sad state of the holding cells.

Unsavoury toilet facility leaves a lot to be desired about the quality of work to clean and maintain the facility.

Paint peels from the ceiling of the basement, and it is believed the reason for the peeling paint is moisture seeping through from the wall.

Water and sewage from the corroded and leaking pipework flood the holding cells.
