Man shoots himself in Sunward Park home

Police have registered an inquest docket after a Sunward Park couple's argument turned lethal.

According to the Boksburg SAPS spokesperson, Const Ntsako Ledwaba, the man got into a heated argument with his wife before he allegedly took out a gun, aim it at his wife and threatened to shoot her and then himself.

The wife subsequently went to the Boksburg police to report the incident.

In her statement, the complainant told police that despite an existing protection order barring her partner from intimidating her, the partner pointed a firearm at her and threatened to kill her.

Police launched an investigation, but when the complainant returned home on Tosca Street, she found her unresponsive partner on the bed facing up. He had a gunshot wound underneath his chin and a gun in his right hand.

The police arrived at the scene along with paramedics, who certified the husband dead on scene.

The man’s death is being treated as a suicide.
