Former local head boys inducted as fellows of the Royal College
Howard and Stuart Alexander are in private practice on the East Rand and Port Elizabeth respectively and are successful podiatrists.
Howard and Stuart Alexander (42) were, on June 5, inducted as fellows of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons at Glasgow University in Scotland, UK.
The twins are former learners and head boys of Sunward Park High School. They matriculated in 1994.
The Boksburg father of the identical twins, Keith Alexander, said he is proud of their prestigious achievement.
“The Royal College is a top medical institution and they have a strict criteria,” said Keith.
Both of them have been involved in the operation of the medical tent at the Ironman competition that is held annually in Port Elizabeth.
Howard also co-authored a book on the treatment of the diabetic foot to assist caregivers around the world.
“It’s not strange that they have the same occupation. They always had the same interests, they’re basically one person,” said Keith.
Keith said Howard and Stuart grew up in a military family that has been living in Boksburg since 1988.
“Both of them were top achievers at school,” said Keith.
“Not only did they excel academically, they were also keen sportsmen. They both captained the first cricket team, taking turns to do so.”
Howard and Stuart studied at the University of Johannesburg. They continued their studies at the University of Witwatersrand, where they obtained a Master of Medicine (MMed) degree.
According to Keith, they are both living their own lives now, but are still in constant contact.
“They’re extremely close and will always love each other despite having their own families.”
