Cook and Culture: Enjoy a productive month as May winds down

It’s a new week and the month of May is almost over.  Here are some handy tips and tricks to help you flourish. + Pic

  • Baby it’s cold outside

Make a killer hot chocolate for that date night or a Sunday morning surprise. It’s easy, heat up a cup of milk on the stove, keep stirring. Add two teaspoons of cocoa powder when the milk comes to a boil, add two teaspoons of sugar and take it off the heat and pour it into a mug.

Now have some fun. Froth an extra dash of milk and pour over the cocoa. Sprinkle some chocolate chips for extra decadence over the top and allow the chocolate to melt into the delicious rich drink.

  • Home Remedy

When in doubt, wear red lipstick, but if it gets on that crisp white shirt, you have a problem. To get the red lips out of the shirt, pour rubbing alcohol on and dab with a cloth or squirt dish washing liquid on and rub.

  • Pro Tip

It is flu season, and extra good hygiene measures are in order. Office tools like keyboards, telephones and staplers are an easy germ train, so make sure to wipe office tools with an alcohol wipe.

  • Check It Out

For great food, crazy drinks and an all-round good vibe, pop in to Salsa Mexican grill. This Mexican restaurant is a Best of Ekurhuleni winner. Visit https://bestofekurhuleni.co.za

  • Do-Gooder

Shout out to Round Table Boksburg 17 on their Winter Knights project. We need people like you in our community.

  • Charity

Blanket Drive, Winter Knights – Round Table Boksburg 17 will sell blankets at R50, which will be distributed to the needy. You are also welcome to drop off non-perishables on June 1 between 5pm to 6pm at the clubhouse, 32 Lancaster Road, Parkdene. Contact Andre van Vuuren on 082 637 6226 for bigger donations.

  • Have You Seen It Yet?

Treat yourself to a feel-good movie. Go watch The Hustle, starring the beautiful Anne Hathaway and the hilarious Rebel Wilson.

  • Food For Thought

Don’t get caught up in all the little things that seem to go wrong. Wake up and think about three things you are grateful for and your smile will come naturally.

  • Local Is Lekker:

We heard from a few readers that the Langarm Sokkie in Impala Park is a lot of fun. If this is your thing, join the next one on May 31, which has a ’60s and ’70s theme. Call Yvonne on 083 294 0007.
