Community show commiserations to family of slain young man

The suspects are still at large, but police are investigating a murder case.

A Freeway Park young man, Sean Ferreira (24)  was shot dead when he and his mother were accosted by gunmen yesterday morning, April 30.

Last night, the community gathered at the home of Sean where flowers were left in memory of him, while others burned candles.

Those who gathered also prayed for the family.

It is understood that Sean worked for a company in Germiston along with his father, who was at the time of the shooting overseas.

By yesterday evening the bereaved family was not yet ready to divulge any more information to the media.

Seen here are friends of Sean, Martin Meyer and Jean Cloete with Sean’s mother Liesele Stoop.

According to the Boksburg SAPS spokesperson Const Ntsako Ledwaba, the mother and son had just arrived at their home on Morgenster Road when they were confronted by the armed men.

“The suspects pointed a firearm at them as they were parking the car in the garage.

“The son apparently jumped out of the car and one of the suspects opened fire. The bullet hit him in his upper body, and he died. The mother was not hurt.

“It appears the suspects wanted to enter the house, apparently to steal. The pair fled the scene empty–handed immediately after shooting the son.”

A moment of prayer.
