SALTA honours warrant officer for his efforts
The award serves to acknowledge the role the officer has played as a community builder and law enforcement officer in Dawn Park.
The South African Liquor Traders Association (SALTA) recently handed over a certificate of appreciation to WO David Rafanyane from the Dawn Park SAPS.
Martin Hlongwa, chairperson of SALTA local branch said: “We decided to honour Rafanyane for his excellent speed of service he has shown during workshops that we normally have where he addresses us about the liquor act, trader’s laws and many more.
“We have been working with him since 2010 and he has empowered our members to trade responsibly.”
Hlongwa highlighted that as an organisation it’s the first time that they have awarded an officer an appreciation certificate.
Rafanyane expressed excitement for the award he received.
“For the past 30 years since I’ve been in the SAPS, I have never received an award so I am very happy. Being honoured with this certificate clearly highlights my efforts and encourages me to continuing making a difference in the community,” Rafanyane said.
SALTA promotes and protects the interest of taverns, shebeens, bootleggers liquor stores, hotel, night clubs, restaurants, bed and breakfast, pub owners and all members as determined in the Constitution.
Their value is to not sell alcohol to pregnant women, children and already intoxicated patrons.
They also encourage members not to encroach to the rights of other community members by respecting allowed trading hours and respecting by-laws.
