Residents of Daimler Avenue in Dawn Park are frustrated about the overgrown grass in their area which has not been cut since last year October.
According to one resident, Mafa Mavuso, who has been a resident of Dawn Park since 1993, the unoccupied piece of land was always maintained throughout the year up until 2015.
“In that year I went to the customer care centre and I told them about the overgrown grass. I was told that the piece of land was owned by a private owner so it was private property.
“After two weeks, to my surprise, employees from the metro came to clean even though they said it’s privately owned,” Mavuso said.
Last year around August he complained for the second time and a truck came to clean but they cleaned only opposite his house leaving the rest of the potion deserted.
“Where they didn’t clean, the grass grew taller. I thought they would come back in January but they haven’t been here. We just want our area cleaned so we can have peace of mind,” Mafa said.
The Advertiser is still waiting for a response from the metro.
