Strelitzia Clinic closing permanently
The Strelitzia Clinic has been operating for the past 30 years at the Strelitzia Service Centre.

About 500 elderly people who used to receive their medication at Strelitzia Clinic will, unfortunately, have to go to other alternative health facilities due to the clinic’s closure on March 29.
Executive director of Cosmos Old Age Home Susan Cilliers said: “All elderly receiving their medication at the clinic need to get their files and last medication from the clinic before this date.
“We have spoken to the Department of Health, they said they will notify the elderly on their database.”
Circumstances surrounding the closure of the clinic is not yet clear.
Strelitzia was seen as the only service centre of its kind for the elderly in Ekurhuleni.
The centre ran clinic services, a second-hand shop, a library, various activities (line dancing, lawn bowls, gym trim, needlework) and a Meals on Wheels scheme.
It also provided daily meals to members and hosted special functions for the aged throughout the year.
Strelitzia Service Centre was recently sold to new owners from Hoeksteen Gemeente who purchased the building.
According to Theuns Kruger from Hoeksteen Gemeente, the second-hand shop, sports gathering and all regular activities that took place at the centre will continue
