For the end of the month stretch, here are a few tips to make things go a little bit longer.
•For the end of the month stretch, here are a few tips to make things go a little bit longer.
•Add soy mince or oat bran to your minced meat (Annelette wasn’t so keen on this idea), Minced meat is one of the cheapest cuts of meat and a little will go a long way if you add soy or oat bran to make some extra meatballs or spaghetti and mince.
Soy mince is really affordable and you won’t even notice a difference in taste when it is mixed with beef minced meat.
•Instead of throwing out overripe fruit and veg, juice it up and turn it into a smoothie or a healthy juice.
•Buy pasta in bulk, this will save money and pasta is a whole meal on its own. This will ensure a filling dinner when the cupboards are on the empty side.

Grapefruit is delicious and stays fresh for at least two weeks
Home Remedy
Since it is so hot and we are all camping out next to the pool or the sprinkler, make sure those legs are shaved. For a soft and close shave, rub baby oil on your skin first, this will get you that shiny close shave you deserve.
Pro Tip
Don’t procrastinate, hydrate by drinking water. It will keep you going and focused. Water improves concentration and cognition, it helps you balance your mood and emotions, increases blood flow and oxygen, reduces stress and relieves headaches, while maintaining memory function. You will definitely be more productive when you drink water at work

Don’t shop, adopt!
Keep an eye out for our adopt a pet column in the paper. If you are looking for a new pet don’t buy from a breeder, rather take a look at the SPCA Facebook page and see if you can give a stray a permanent loving home.

Food for thought
This story was heard once and it goes as follows:
Once there was a doctor who delivered twins in a local hospital. The doctor delivered many babies before but this specific case haunted him for years to come, as the mother and father of the twins were drug addicts, homeless and alcoholics.
They were dirty and stayed on the street. They had no money or family and no education or jobs. The doctor worried about what will happen to these to boys born to parents who were in such a bad place in life.
After many years, with his retirement, the doctor had a deep desire to find the twins and see if they were doing okay. He always wondered what happened to them. After a lot of research and looking, he found the first twin, now a grown man. He was lying on the pavement, drunk, hungry and without family, a home or a job.
“What happened to you?” asked the doctor.
“With parents like mine, what did you expect?” said the twin.
The doctor understood and thought that the explanation was quite valid. The twin then told the doctor where he could find his twin brother.
The doctor went to a big fancy building where he found the other twin in the biggest office on the top floor, dressed in a suit and clearly a very wealthy, businessman with a family and a successful life.
“What happened to you?” asked the doctor.
“With parents like mine, what did you expect.” said the twin.
Don’t let your circumstances define your destiny! Make a choice and decide where you want to be.
