Total of R73 200 raised at Bokkie Park auction

The auction is held bi-annually to avoid overcrowding in the Bokkie Park.

A total of 57 goats, 15 sheep, 40 pigs, one cow, 50 geese and one ostrich pair were sold at a recent auction held at the Bokkie Park.

A total of R73 200 was made at the auction.

According to Themba Gadebe, spokesperson of the City of Ekurhuleni, the funds will be used for municipal expenses.

“As per municipal Finance Act, all financial incomes, whether it is from rates and taxes or selling of assets or any other form of income, gets paid into one central account, which is used to pay municipal expenses,” said Gadebe.

Although many locals were aggravated by the selling of these animals, the SPCA was present to assure the animals are well taken care of.
