Boksburg North SAPS, together with other law enforcement agencies including the EMPD, community patrollers and CPF, launched the precinct’s festive season awareness campaign at the East Rand Mall on December 7.
The event was also used as a platform to encourage residents to take action against women and children abuse in the city as part of the 16 Days of Activism for No Violence against Women and Children.
Led by the Boksburg North SAPS station commander, Col Khumbulani Mbatha, the team distributed over 1 000 pamphlets containing information on abuse, safety tips and who to turn to for help.
In a statement issued by Sgt Mashudu Phathela on behalf of the Boksburg North SAPS, the event put emphasis on encouraging residents to break the silence on domestic violence and report any form of abuse to the police.

Residents were also urged to take charge and work together with the police to fight crime in their respective areas.
“The station commander used the opportunity to interact with the community, discussing social ills that are prevalent in the different areas within the precinct during the festive season.”
