Community comes together to revamp Boksburg North SAPS customer service centre

From September this year construction was underway to improve the CSC to a more positive and practical environment.

The Boksburg North Police Station now looks brand new and officers are excited to serve the community from the revamped customer service centre (CSC).

The transformation was even better than expected and on November 27 the new and improved CSC was officially opened.

The man to be thanked is Sam Hammond, who launched this community initiative.

“It started when I went to the Boksburg North SAPS to have some documents certified. I was shocked to see the terrible state of the building,” said Hammond.

“Something had to be done.”

Hammond then approached the station commander, Col Kumbulani Mbatha, and offered to kick-start a community project to revamp the client service centre.

Marnus van der Merwe from MVDM Arci Techs offered to do the architectural work to revamp the building.

“We were informed of the station’s CSC needs and the ideal look for the new building. We then immediately started to make it as practical and beautiful as we could.

“We received great support from Col Mbatha, Capt Mike Terblanche and Col Juanita du Toit at the station from the beginning to the end of the project,” said Hammond.

Hammond is a well-known developer in the community from Samlin Construction.

“I went to local colleagues and business people to gain more sponsorship for the project. We wanted the community to see that there are many successful business owners in Boksburg who care about the community and who are willing to work on projects like this to better our community.”

He said the new CSC at Boksburg North Police Station was a project completely driven and funded by the community.

“It is definitely something to be proud of. I worked closely with all the sponsors and states that without them the project would not have been a success.

“This renovation cost about R1.2-million from cameras, granite counters to expanded new parking. We hope to make more upgrades to the station in the future.”

Local sponsors included Samlin Construction, MVDM Arci Techs, TW Profile, Blunden Plumbing, Class Kitchens, Zebbies Lighting, Benoni Brick Works, Buco Rietpan, Maritz Sand & Stone, Tuckers Inc, Clyde Brickfields, HF Roofs, Windows 2000, Palms and Plants, Homestead Electrical, Exoticsteel, SWS Security, CTM, Filrite, JD Wooden Touch, Chilli Air.
