Two girls from two different worlds and cultures have become inseparable “sisters” within just a few months of finding each other.

Tendai Hove (14) from Boksburg is the host sister of Hannah Seitlinger, an Austrian long-term youth exchange student.

Seitlinger will be in South Africa until July, while Tendai will jet off to Belgium in January to her Belgian host family.

An aspiring media mogul and researcher, Tendai, a Grade Nine learner at Boksburg High School, applied to participate in the Rotary Youth Exchange Programme in January 2019 after seeing an advert on such programmes.

“I was so excited to have another person of the same age group come and live with me. Before Hannah came, we used to video-call each other, so we instantly bonded.”

Tendai said she will miss their funny, pointless conversations and loving words of advice as well as walking and skating around the neighbourhood.

“I cannot wait to go to Belgium, even though I’m a bit anxious. I’m excited to meet new people and learn different cultures,” said Tendai.
