Israel Tlale, who has been a resident of Dawn Park for 10 years, has voiced his concern about the lack of maintenance of the park behind Falcon College.
Tlale said since 2016 he has been fighting this unending war of trying to get the park maintained but nothing has been done.
“I have communicated with the metro and even the ward councillor Bruce Reid, but still the park is in a shocking state,” said Tlale.
“Some of the parks that are being built in townships get gym equipment and they are being maintained beautifully. This is not the case for the one in Dawn Park that has been in existence for quite some time.”

Reid replied by saying: “The park was the first one in the ward two years ago to get gym equipment, benches and braai stands but they are now broken.
“People need to understand that we work on an allocated budget, so they can’t just break things and demand more. With regards to the grass, there is no budget for that.
“I haven’t had a public meeting with the community because there is no place or building that we can have the meeting. I have spoken to some committee members to try and find a venue for us where we can have public meetings.”
The Advertiser is still waiting for comment from the metro.
