Tip-off leads to arrest of man with unlicensed firearm

The suspect was also wanted by the Vosloorus SAPS.

A 32-year-old man has been arrested for being in possession of an unlicensed firearm.

While the Dawn Park crime prevention officers were patrolling Holomisa D Section on October 20, they received a tip-off from a community member about a person with an unlicensed firearm.

According to communications officer Nkemeleng Mabula, the police proceeded to the given address and on arrival, they found a 32-year-old man whom they asked for permission to search him.

“A firearm was found in his possession. He was arrested and detained at Dawn Park SAPS,” Mabula said.

He will appear in the Boksburg Magistrate’s Court soon.
