A regular night on the job resulted in a violent robbery for a local Uber driver.
Protesters in Boksburg voiced their concern about violence against Uber drivers in January this year.
Communications officer from Boksburg North SAPS, Capt Juanita Coetzer, confirmed that on 9.30pm on October 6 an Uber driver received a driving request on the Taxify app to pick up clients in Delmore informal settlement.
“He was driving a Volkswagen Polo and drove three males to Abrahamson Road in Witfield.
“The three males robbed him at knife point and took his phone and an undisclosed amount of cash.”
Coetzer stated that the Uber driver was not hurt and that a case of robbery was opened.
No arrests have been made yet.
