Long weekend speedsters nabbed in Boksburg

All six speedsters were detained at Boksburg and Germiston police stations, on charges of reckless and negligent driving.

The EMPD nabbed four drivers for exceeding the stipulated 100km/h speed limit on Monday, September 24 between 6am and 10am on the R21 freeway direction south between Griffiths on ramp and N12 turnoff.

According to Kobeli Mokheseng, EMPD media liaison officer, at 6.56am, a 35-year old male driving a silver VW Polo, who claimed that he was rushing home, was caught doing 160km/h.

Mokheseng said the other three speedsters were stopped driving between 141 and 156km/h.

Meanwhile, on Sunday September 23 between 5am and 10am, on the stretch of N3 southbound by the Rand Airport turnoff, two motorists were nabbed when caught doing speeds well in excess of the speed limit of 120km/h.

They speedsters are expected to appear in the Germiston and Boksburg Magistrate’s Court soon.
