Metro urges residents to collect IDs needed for municipal services

The southern region of the metro includes Vosloorus and parts of Boksburg.

The Ekurhuleni metro has partnered with the Department of Home Affairs to get residents to collect their ID from Home Affairs offices.

Lindiwe Khonjelwayo, the Divisional Head responsible for Women, Children and People with Disability in the Office of the mayor said there are more than 2 600 uncollected IDs in the southern region of the metro alone.

“Many residents are unable to access social services, including registration on the metro’s indigent programme to get free services, due to lack of IDs.

“As we celebrate the Women’s Month, we call on women to take leadership role by collecting their IDs to access government services,” Khonjelwayo said.
