Mayor of Ekurhuleni Mzwandile Masina will today (Thursday, July 19) launch an innovative and easy to navigate App called My Ekurhuleni App.
This App has been developed in partnership with Vodacom.
According to metro spokesperson, Themba Gadebe, the App will not only reduce high caller volumes at the call centre but also ensure residents easily navigate service points in close proximity to their location.
“The App provides on the spot reference numbers after reporting a service incident and a functionality to view the status of the logged calls, including calls in the vicinity,” said Gadebe.
He said the My Ekurhuleni App boasts a wealth of information about the Ekurhuleni metro.
This includes the profile and contacts of the City’s councillors, emergency services contact details, requests for application forms, refuse removal schedules as well navigation on to the metro’s social media platforms for updates on service issues and upcoming events.
Speaking on behalf of Vodacom, managing executive for Vodacom Business Public Sector, Dinah Kheswa said, “Vodacom is using mobile technology to bring about administrative efficiency and enhance communication between government and citizens in an effort to support service delivery.”
Through this initiative, Kheswa said, “We are essentially bringing government closer to the people and providing an unprecedented level of transparency and accountability in the process.
“As a corporate citizen, Vodacom is responsible for helping government deliver services as efficiently as possible.”
