Tsepo Tshola set to perform at Birchwood Jazz Evening
In partnership with the Ekurhuleni metro, Tshola will lead the jazz evening with his Afro-Soul and Gospel sounds.
Legendary Tsepo Tshola will be rocking music lovers at the Birchwood Ekurhuleni Comes Alive Jazz Evening to be held at Birchwood Hotel and OR Tambo Conference Centre, on Friday, July 6.
The music industry veteran, Tshola, is a former lead singer and composer in the legendary band Sankomota which was formed in 1976.
His illustrious career has seen him work with industry greats such as Hugh Masekela, Brenda Fassie, and most recently, Casper Nyovest.
The event will consists of a star-studded line-up of local acts, which will be stamping their unique mark on the industry and introducing their own modern takes on classical genres.
The evening will also feature Johannesburg-based Afro-Pop artist Malik Zwane, who is making a comeback after a two-year break.
Inspired by a variety of genres, some of his musical influences include Maxwell, R Kelly, Bob Marley, Miriam Makeba and Bilal.
Setting the tone for the evening is the Music Academy of Gauteng Jazz Orchestra; a community-based NGO focused on musical education for youth from disadvantaged families and informal settlements.
Founded by well-known trumpeter Johnny Mekoa, the academy has hosted many talented international jazz professors who share their expertise in workshops and classes.
As usually, to add a comedic element to the evening, the resident comedian and MC, Hector Motivator, will be joined by award-winning comedian Sifiso Nene.
Known for his hilarious cultural commentary, Nene has made numerous television appearances; including the film “Taxi Ride”.
