The case against the Sunward Park man accused of brutally stabbing a female Uber driver was back in court on May 16.
The Advertiser understands its investigation has been finalised and the matter had been postponed to May 22 to enable the state to provide the defence with copies of the content of the docket.
Jacques Henry Scharneck (29) is accused of stabbing the 42-year-old Uber driver three times on December 26, last year, after she picked him up in Reiger Park and was driving him to Sandton.
En route, in Lied Road, Sunward Park, at about 10.25pm, he allegedly pulled out a knife and forced her to stop the car.
The woman was stabbed in the head, back and throat and, once outside the vehicle, Sharneck allegedly took the wheel and tried to drive over her.
Her blue Hyundai Elantra was recovered by police hours later (early hours of December 27) in Boksburg North – with Scharneck in it.
He was arrested, bail was denied and he has been in custody ever since.
The Advertiser previously reported Scharneck, who was on parole for a rape conviction at the time of his arrest, is facing a charge of robbery with aggravating circumstances and two charges of attempted murder. -@MthuphaFanie
