Take note of spike in theft of out of motor vehicles in the Boksburg North precinct

The police have stressed that a vehicle is no safe place for your valuables.

The SAPS has noted a spike in theft of out of motor vehicles in the Boksburg North precinct.

According to captain Juanita Coetzer, the Boksburg North SAPS spokesperson, people stop in a parking area and then only take out their possessions to put them away in the vehicle’s boot.

“Some people leave large amounts of cash in their vehicles, even overnight, at parking lots of shopping centers.

“Criminals and opportunists are watching those who visit the banks and they monitor the parking areas.

“They see and know what we are doing and where we put our possessions. A vehicle is no safe place for your valuables.

“If you must go to a shopping centre, or a gym, take your valuables with you. If your vehicle cannot be locked in a garage, take all your valuables out after you have parked your vehicle at home.”
