Streetlights out for more than a year in Jerusalem and Delmore informal settlements

Pedestrians who use the road in the evening risk their lives due to the lack of lighting.

Non-functioning streetlights at Wit Deep Road remains an ongoing issue that has plagued the community and road-users for over a year now.

Clr Muzi Ngada, DA PR councillor of Ekurhuleni, said, “I have pleaded to have this issue resolved since I took office as a councillor, last year. A plea that has seemingly fallen on deaf ears.

“The metro has taken no accountability to repair the streetlights. At night the area is completely dark, affecting people’s and motorists’ safety.

“The Jerusalem informal settlement, Delmore Hostel and Delmore informal settlements are plunged into darkness and the community wants the Ekurhuleni municipality to act.

“The DA has been urging the metro to repair street lights throughout Ekurhuleni and spend on the maintenance budget to ensure effective service delivery to our residents,” Ngada said.
