Take note of increase in theft from motor cars

No forced entry of vehicles in general reported.

A lot of cases of theft out of motor vehicles were reported to Boksburg North SAPS in January.

Captain Juanita Coetzer, the communications officer for the station, said: “In most of these cases, the complainants alleged there was no forced entry.

“Some complainants arrived home after having been out shopping and then only noticed that items had been stolen from the vehicle.

“They were not able to determine how the criminals opened the car but, as we know, criminals do use remote jammers to gain access to vehicles,” she said.

Coetzer added that some complainants, whose items had been stolen as a result of a criminal breaking a window of the vehicle, only reported this after they had the window repaired.

She said thefts out of vehicles should be reported at your local police station immediately,
