Dealing in fireworks without a licence

The following cases were investigated by the Boksburg North SAPS:

  • Fireworks licence

The Boksburg North SAPS was doing routine inspections at Lifestyle Centre, North Rand Road.

According to Capt Juanita Coetzer, communication officer for Boksburg North SAPS, in one shop they found fireworks for sale.

“The officers asked the owner for his licence to sell fireworks. He could not produce a licence and he was arrested.

“The suspect was charged with contravening the Act on Regulating Explosives.”

  • Housebreak-in and theft

On December 29, the complainant arrived back home around midday to find his gate lifted from the rails and the sliding door and back door broken.

“He found a lot of electrical equipment to be missing. During further investigation by Boksburg North SAPS, they found one suspect and he was arrested,” said Coetzer.

“It was also found that the suspect is wanted in a Benoni case.”

  • Possession of housebreak-in implements

The alertness of a security officer at Retail Park on January 3 led to the arrest of two suspects.

“The officer was on duty when he noticed early in the morning two suspicious men in the receiving area of the shops. He called for back-up, and the two were apprehended. Boksburg North SAPS were called, and the suspects were searched.

“They found housebreak-in equipment in their possession. Both of the suspects had backpacks on. The suspects are 28 and 45 years old.”
