EMPD concludes its investigation into deadly North Rand Road crash, SAPS investigates culpable homicide

The EMPD has this week confirmed that its accident investigation unit has wrapped up its investigation into the November 1 crash that killed a road construction worker in Bardene.

The worker, a 27-year-old Mozambican, died after he was struck by a car at the site where he was working, on the corner of Bartlett and North Rand roads, Bardene, just before 10am that day.

According to EMPD spokesperson Wilfred Kgasago their accident investigation unit has found that a Hyundai and VW Polo collided, and as a result of the impact the Hyundai spun out of control and struck the worker, who was later pronounced dead at the scene.

“A sketch plan, photo album and statements were all included in the docket,” said Kgasago.

Kgasago stated that the docket was then handed over to the SAPS detectives who are now investigating a culpable homicide case.

“The key findings shall be available upon the completion of the investigation by SAPS,” said Kgasago. -@FanieFLK
