Court declines police docket which brings charges of attempted murder against 15 illegal miners
The attempted murder docket opened against 15 illegal miners who were arrested by the SAPS and EMPD on Thursday last week (November 23), was declined by the control prosecutor of the Vosloorus Magistrate's Court on Monday.
It was therefore not placed on the court roll.

The suspects were arrested in Dawn Park after police and EMPD reacted to information about illegal explosives being brought into the area for illegal mining activities.
A shoot-out ensued when police and EMPD officers approached a group of men. Four illegal miners were killed and an EMPD officer was injured.
Police said at the time that 17 illegal miners were arrested and that an inquest would be held into the deaths of the four miners.
According to a spokesperson for the Vosloorus Magistrate’s Court, further investigations into the incident and the charges of attempted murder against the 15 are underway.
