Metro unresponsive on state of dam

It is unknown whether the water of the polluted dam at the intersection of Rondebult and Yaldwyn roads, Jet Park, has been tested and if the source of the pollution has been traced.

Despite numerous communication efforts via email and telephone, the Advertiser was unable to get hold of the Ekurhuleni metro communication department.

By the afternoon of October 19, a metro official told the Advertiser that they’re “still busy with the enquiry”.

The DA Ekurhuleni spokesperson for environmental development, André du Plessis, and ward Clr Simon Lapping are also not receiving any feedback from the officials.

“We are left in the dark and don’t know what is going on,” said du Plessis.

On October 16 the Advertiser published an online article, “Jet Park factory could be behind dam pollution“, on the blueish-green colour of the dam’s water.

Du Plessis said the water still has an unnatural colour to it, but it’s not that prominent as a few days ago.

“The colour has been diluted by the water,” said du Plessis.

We are still awaiting a response from the metro.
