St Francis Centre assists 12 000 people in 2016/17 financial year
During the 2016/17 year the St Francis Care Centre’s services reached more 12 000 people who were sick, vulnerable and in need of support and care.
This was disclosed at the centre’s annual general meeting on September 18.
The 2016/17 period under review was filled with challenges and rewards, according to centre manager Tilly Brouwer.
Some of the centre’s biggest challenges included ensuring financial sustainability and staying abreast of new priorities and focus areas of government, and trying to align themselves accordingly.
“Financially, we survived with the assistance of our donors – without whom the centre would not be able to render its services,” said Brouwer.
The St Francis Care Centre wishes to express its sincere appreciation and gratitude to all donors who supported them during the past financial year.
In addition, the centre also acknowledges the financial assistance received from the Department of Health, the Department of Social Development, as well as the Hospice Palliative Care Association.
“The objectives, as outlined in our constitution, were achieved and the centre also continued to contribute towards reaching the millennium goals as outlined in the National Development Plan of government,” said Brouwer.
Through networking, relationships with the relevant state departments, local clinics, hospitals and other stake holders have been strengthened.
“We thank our donors most sincerely for the financial and moral support,” said Brouwer.
“We trust that our donors will continue to support our organisation and that this partnership will grow in the interest of the many people who approach us for assistance.
“Many challenges lie ahead but, together with our board, donors and staff members, we will tackle them courageously knowing that we are making a difference in the lives of those who need assistance.”
