Bogus IT technician arrested, wanted at Springs SAPS

One robbery suspect, posing as a IT technician, was recently arrested.

He was part of a trio who attempted to rob a company in Allen Street, Bardene.

Further investigation linked the suspect with other similar cases, as well as a warrant of arrest outstanding at Springs SAPS.

Boksburg North SAPS sector managers, Sgt Gerhard Diedericks and Const Teenage Rutsane, responded to the business robbery around 11.50am.

According to the Boksburg North SAPS communication officer, Capt Juanita Coetzer, all three posed as technicians and used distraction while a laptop was stolen out of an office.

“A witness noticed the theft and asked the suspect what he was doing. The suspect pushed the witness out of the way and ran outside,” said Coetzer.

“The other suspects were already driving off in the getaway vehicle. While they drove off, the third suspect had his hand in the window. He dropped the laptop and lost his grip and fell.”

He was apprehended by security officers and handed over to SAPS.
