Medieval fun a boost for charity
About R12 000 was raised for charity during the Medieval Sport Festival which took place at Wild Waters on August 26.
Organisers of the event, Antoinette van der Merwe, and Michelle and Martin Erwee said they managed to make a profit.
“The festival was a great success, we are hoping that next year we can get more sponsors to come aboard and more feet through the gate. We had two months to plan the festival but will start much earlier next year,” Martin said.
The money raised will assist Women and Men against Child Abuse, an animal charity (still to be decided) and a stationery project called ‘The Pen is Mightier than the Sword’ to assist needy learners with stationery for next year.
On the day, festival-goers brought donations of stationery, blankets, jeans, children’s toys and many other items to be donated to local organisations.
