Unfortunate accident leads Natasha (12) to modelling stardom

Former gymnast Natasha Prinsloo (11), from Impala Park, discovered her passion for modelling after an unfortunate injury.

The Grade Six Laerskool Concordia learner said she broke her arm four months after being selected to the East Gauteng Gymnastics team.

“I knew that I couldn’t continue with gymnastics so I needed to find a new hobby to keep me busy. I then asked my mother to let me do modelling and she agreed. I have never looked back,” she said.

Natasha was recently crowned Miss Pre-Teen Johannesburg 2017 in the 10 to 12 age category.

The pageant finale took place at Carnival City.

The Grade Six learner at Laerskool Concordia said she aspires to be a fashion designer and travel the world one day.

“Winning this title came as a blessing to me because I have been participating in pageants for the past two years but I have never won anything.

“My coach, Deon Krause, from Vogue Models East Rand, encouraged me to enter this pageant because he saw the potential in me,” Natasha said.

The Boksburg beauty said the experience has been great as she has enjoyed every moment of her journey.

As part of her pageant duties, Natasha had to be involved in charity work.

“I had to raise funds and be involved in community work by donating food and clothes to organisations looking after disadvantaged people. I must say it was quite an experience and I’m glad I made a difference in someone’s life,” Natasha said.

She said she aspires to be a fashion designer and travel the world one day.

Natasha highlighted that her friends and family supported her throughout the pageant.

“I thank my mother as she has been the one who did everything, making sure that I look beautiful and being part of these pageants. I would not have won if it wasn’t for her and my father, who pays for everything, and my coach, who is more of a friend than a coach,” Natasha said.
