It is alleged two male suspects entered the house on July 17 while the complainant and his wife were asleep.
According to Constable Nkemeleng Mabula, from the Dawn Park police, the suspects tied the couple up with shoe laces and searched the house.
“They loaded clothes, a laptop and a sound system into the couple’s car and drove off in the car,” Mabula said.
The suspects also stole a gun from the house.
On the day of the robbery, the couple’s car tracking system led the police to Katlehong, where they found a suspect in possession of the stolen car and gun.
The police also found the second suspect’s girlfriend, who was in possession of stolen goods from the house robbery. She then told police where her boyfriend was and he was arrested by Dawn Park police the next day.
He was charged with house robbery at the Dawn Park Police Station, while his girlfriend and the other suspect were charged with possession of stolen goods at the Katlehong Police Station.
The suspects are expected to appear soon in the Boksburg Magistrate’s Court and Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court, respectively.
