Wanted robber back behind bars

Boksburg North detectives went on a manhunt to Soweto in the early hours of this morning (July 6) and successfully tracked down and arrested a suspect wanted in connection with robberies in Brackendowns and Garsfontein.

He is also believed to have been involved in a house robbery in Beyers Park, in 2012.

On August 16, 2012, a domestic worker was tied up and goods and a vehicle were stolen from a Beyers Park home.

According to the Boksburg North SAPS communication officer, Juanita Coetzer, the domestic worker heard a hooter at the gate. It was three men in a truck who claimed to be coming to measure for underfloor heating.

The domestic worker told them to contact the homeowner before she would let them in.

“They forced their way in and tied the domestic worker up with cable ties,” Coetzer said.

“They took three flat-screen televisions, a television stand, sound system, PlayStation, DVD player and bedding. They also took the complainant’s vehicle, a Toyota Rav-X.”

The vehicle was recovered in Soweto and a suspect, Tshepo Clifford Motlokoa (39), of Moona Street, Jabulani, Soweto, was arrested, appeared in court and was released on bail.

When he failed to reappear in the Boksburg Magistrate’s Court, Det-Const Chris Chauke obtained a warrant of arrest for Motlokoa on October 29, 2014. Investigations led to his successful capture in Soweto at about 2am this morning (July 6).

He is being detained at the Boksburg North Police Station.
