The victim told the Boksburg police that he was in the car when two vehicles, a white and a grey Mercedes-Benz, pulled up and blocked his path as he was waiting for the traffic light to turn green.
A gunman got out of the Mercedes-Benz and ordered him out of the vehicle before he drove off in the BMW.
No injuries were reported.
The car has still not been recovered and no arrests have been made.
A case of carjacking was registered and police are appealing for information.

- In Sunward Park, thieves forced their way into a home on Constellation Road and stole goods worth about R10 000.
- Thugs also forced their way into a house in Golden Oaks, Comet, and stole goods worth thousands of rand.
- A motorcyclist died when his motorcycle collided with a truck on April 28, along Langenhoven Street, in Parkrand.
