Can you make a wish come true for House of Mercy?
Want to extend a helping hand this winter, but don’t know where to begin?
Local NGO House a Mercy, a drug and alcohol rehabilitation centre, has a wish list to warm the hearts of patients and staff.
The wish list includes: A bakkie, paint, materials to fix doors, computers, bedding, mattresses and pillows, a deep freeze, cookware, materials to build a storeroom, a medicine trolley, an iron and materials they can use to renovate the kitchen.
If you can help in any way, contact Monica Mashiane, director of the centre, on 011 894 4050/2 or email velma@execmail.co.za.
The centre, based in Olivia Road, Ravenswood, has been operating since 1988 and was founded by the late Fr Stan Brennan under the auspices of the Catholic Church.
The centre provides voluntary intensive residential treatment to chemically dependent people, from the age of 18, giving preference to the most vulnerable and the poorest.
The aim of the centre is to facilitate the healing of each individual in a holistic manner, focusing on physical, emotional, psychological and spiritual aspects.
