Boksburg CBD two-vehicle crash claims a second life

The driver of the bakkie involved in a crash at the intersection of Trichardts Road and Leeuwpoort Street has died in hospital.

This is according to Boksburg SAPS spokesperson Sgt Cebisa Maseko,

The now deceased’s Bantam collided with a Mercedes-Benz at about 2am on Sunday, April 30.

Both drivers suffered critical injuries.

Their vehicles reportedly veered sharply, left the roadway, struck one of the traffic lights and finally stopped when they rammed into the nearby buildings.

The drivers were eventually rushed to different hospitals in a critical condition.

The driver of the bakkie was transported to Tambo Memorial Hospital where he later died from his injuries.

Meanwhile the driver of the Mercedes-Benz was rushed to Sunward Park Hospital.

The passenger inside the Mercedes-Benz  died instantly.

Police are still trying to find out as to what led to the crash. It is unclear if alcohol and excessive speed were contributing factors.

Police would also like to speak to anyone who witnessed the accident.
